The article deals with the aspects of assessment of the optimal time range for planning of mine development. A detailed analysis is presented of the main factors determining the optimal time range for planning of the mine production activities. A comparison is given of typical errors of mine planning with the outputs of economic modeling of a particular mineral deposit. The authors prove that the optimal time range for technical and economic assessment of a mining project is specific for every particular case, and it can be specified by the error of planning and design options at the planning horizon, accuracy of the long-term forecast of mineral prices and sales, opportunities for expansion of production.
