The article contains a brief analysis of the philosophy of enhancing the quality of plans of underground mine coal winning districts. A brief analysis is also presented of an underground coal mine process model. The authors present a case study of situational modeling and control in the forecast of extraction of reserves of a coal winning district for monitoring of any variations occurring in the process of reserves extraction and for selection of optimal management decisions. Opportunities are discussed of the development of a system of expertise and knowledge accumulation.
