The authors offer a new approach to the assessment of the efficiency of operation of ore mining and processing companies. It is proposed to assess the operation of iron-ore mining and dressing facilities based on a complex criterion, namely, on the by-product coefficient, which is a sum of overburden ratio and coefficient of tailing yield (solid waste) and water-inflow coefficient and water consumption factor for ore processing (liquid wastes) per 1 tonne of concentrate or 1 t of metal.
