The authors analyze the evolution of the world industrial revolutions (societies). The article proves the idea that Society 5.0 covers the period of the total computerization and development of technologies, which have determined the development of the industry and production sector of developed economies. This period is characterized by the optimization of resources consumption per capita on an average. Society 5.0 is a stage following the information society, and it extends Industry 4.0 Program beyond the production sector. The strategy of Society 5.0 is a superintelligent society, which implies the optimization of resources consumption of the society rather than that of an individual. Industry 4.0 Program is a part of Society 5.0, therefore these concepts are inseparable, but within the framework of Society 5.0 we deal with cyber physical technologies. The result of Society 5.0 technological revolution is the materialization of artificial intelligence. The authors have formulated the main objectives of the Digital Economy of the Russian Federation Program and the concept of Industry 4.0 Program with the respective digital technologies. They state that digital economy is a part of Industry 4.0 Program, which is now under way. Industry 4.0 and Digital Economy Programs have been launched in many countries, such as, Germany, USA, Netherlands, Great Britain, South Korea, Japan, China, Sweden, etc. In the course of their research the authors have perfected their earlier elaborated classification of technological solutions for coal industry. The updated classification complies with all main areas of the implementation of Industry 4.0 global project and makes it possible to proceed to the formation of the intelligence technology platform including the necessity of implementation of such projects as Virtual Underground Mine of the Future and Virtual Open Pit of the Future. The authors' considerations concerning the transfer of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0 elements into practice of the coal sector lay the groundwork for the construction and development of a new intelligent coal sector of Russia.
