Estimating the parameters of the applicability of a cassette sweeping gear for deep-water sampling of ferromanganese nodule deposits

The article presents main data on sea-floor solid mineral (SM) deposits and proves the importance of their development. A cassette sweeping gear is proposed for bulk sampling of nodule-bearing deposits with the substantiation of its characteristics. The methodology is described of the calculation of the required lifting force for the delivery of boomerang canisters to the surface. The dependences have been calculated for the estimation of a sweeping gear design parameters and its operation patterns.
