The state'of'the art and development trends of coal mining in the CIS countries

The article describes the state-of-the art and development trends of coal mining in the CIS countries, namely, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The author presents the analysis of coal output (including hard and brown coal, as well as coking and steam coal) in the CIS countries in general, and in main coal basins and deposits of the Russian Federation and by main Russian coal producers in particular in 2000–2012 (2011). Coal supply is analyzed by application area including among other things the Russian coal imports in 2011 and 2012. More details are provided on the state-of-the art of the coal sectors of the CIS by country, and future development trends of coal mining are predicted for each of the CIS coal producing countries.
