The author dwells on the 40-year long history of non-metal miners' conferences, main themes addressed in the presentations and reports of the conference participants. The article also includes a review of the XIV International Conference: Technology, Equipment, Reserves and Resources of the Pit-and-Quarry Industry that was timed to coincide with the 40-year jubilee of such conferences. The author states that for further progress of non-metal construction material mining sectors it is important to overcome the current technological lagging behind the leading countries, to replace physically worn fixed assets and to further perfect the Mineral Law.
