Radical changes in conditions of economic activities in the period of transition to market relations, reduced expenditures for occupational health care of the personnel, greater capital investment in the development of mineral deposits have served the prerequisites for the improvement of social and labor relations at mines, primarily, in Siberia and the Extreme North. Special attention must be focused on the minimization of the personnel exposure to unfavourable factors of the industrial environment, elimination of social problems, prevention of general and occupational diseases of the mining industry personnel.
