The article describes the state-of-the art and development of the coal industry in the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, including its coal reserves, output and supply. The analysis includes data on the main underground and opencast mines and preparation plants now being in operation in Yakutia and future projects. Plans are discussed of the main coal producers, such as Mechel OAO and Kolmar Coal Company OOO, concerning the principal aspects of new coal deposit and complex development: Elga coal complex, coal preparation complex of the Denisovskaya mine, Inaglinsky coal complex, Kabaktinskoe coal deposit, and some other. The author predicts the most probable development range of Yakutian coal production for the period up to 2035. The article also contains forecasts of coal production development in line with the Draft Energy Strategy of Russia for the period up to 2035.
