Conditions of the interaction of mine locomotive wheels with rails and estimation of reasonable geometry of contact surfaces

The authors have performed the theoretical research into the process of rolling stock wheel motion on rails in conditions of open pits, and on curved track sections in particular. Characteristics of locomotive wheel interaction with rails has been estimated in conditions of conformal one- and two-point ridge contact, and mathematical dependencies of clearance between wheel and rail contours in the zone of their contact have been identified. The article also contains recommendations on the selection of contact surface radii of curvature.
