Case study of TOTAL CERAN XS 40 Moly synthetic grease application in arctic conditions

D.A. Sobol, R.K. Korchagin, D.S. Kolesnichenko

The article describes mining industry-specific conditions of machinery and equipment operation. For severe geography and climate, as well as heavyduty mining conditions of machinery operation TOTAL has specially formulated CERAN XC 40 Moly synthetic grease intended for the application in automated centralized lubrication systems (CLS). The authors discuss factors and requirements determining the applicability of lubrication materials for operation in an extremely low temperature range with the lubrication systems supplying oil and grease to friction parts. Details are provided of the advantages of the grease application with the systems of excavators operating at temperature down to –55°C.
