The paper studies specific features of mining companies as investment objects. It reviews forms of investment attraction to mining projects and deposit development stages with respect to their legal, technical-and-economic and financial aspects. The authors consider actions undertaken by different investors funding a project at its various development stages from the perspective of risks, investment reliability and ensuring repayment. A general dependence is given between the stage of the deposit knowledge and growth of capitalization in development of international format documents. An investor making a sound and comprehensive assessment of all risk factors and project features influencing its efficiency may have a significant income as a result of the project capitalization growth. This can take place, if the conducted studies confirm initial understanding of the project. All project studies that ensure building civilized relations with investors and development of the mining sector are aimed just at this potential and risk identification.
