Читать на русскоя языкеAbstract: The paper addresses the issue of safe operation of shaft hoists based on analysis of accidents caused by steel wire rope breakage during the period from 2001 to 2017. Accidents in mines are rare, but when they do occur, mining companies suffer huge technical, financial, social and environmental losses. In mining operations, steel wire ropes are used to move the main and auxiliary conveyances up and down the shaft. In operation of mine hoists, where 50% of the accidents are related to the personnel and 45% to the barrel hoists, a major concern is non-compliance with safety requirements. It is possible to improve the reliability of hoisting equipment, its components and subsystems only in case of compliant operational practice, timely execution of routine inspections and maintenance of all components and parts. The main inspection methods are visual and non-destructive. The device for monitoring rope tension in mine hoists is designed for safety braking of the rope when the conveyance gets stuck in the shaft. The proposed rope tension monitoring device for mine hoists will help to increase the reliability of their operation by increasing the number of check points.
