Updating the approach to determining the causes of accidents and incidents at hazardous production facilities in conditions of modern mining and processing of minerals

Abstract: Increasing productivity in the mining industry requires more complicated working methods, which leads to more complex process chains. This, in turn, increases the risk of workplace accidents and emergencies. Establishing the objective causes of emergencies and incidents is an important factor. Special commissions are required to conduct technical investigations into the causes of accidents at hazardous production facilities. Such a commission was created at the Siberian Coal Company (SKK LLC), a permanent Center of Independent Expertise (CIE) has been established for investigation of accidents and incidents at the hazardous production facilities. The Center's activities are aimed at identifying the objective causes of accidents and incidents.
The CIE develops measures and strategies aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. The CIE structure ensures the
involvement of specialists with due account of the specific tasks performed and includes Heads of various department, in-house expert groups, and external dedicated laboratories.
