Abstract: The use of solid minerals extracted from the earth’s subsoil in the mining and road construction industries is impossible without the processes of their crushing and grinding. Therefore, throughout the history of industrial production, crushing processes have been continuously improved in order to create high-performance and low-energy crushing machines. At present, as a result of many years of experience in the manufacturing and operation of crushing machines, broad industrial applications have been found for jaw crushers with both simple and complex moving plate paths, which basic kinematic designs were proposed more than a hundred years ago. All the subsequent attempts to upgrade these designs to improve productivity were not successful. For a correct practical assessment of the effects that various structural designs of the jaw crushers have on their technical and economic indicators, a kinematic efficiency factor of the drive is proposed for these crushers. The idea of the developed procedure is that the proposed grain-size model of crushing and location of the fragments inside the chamber takes into account its longitudinal dimensions and the speed of the one-stage process of hard rock crushing. The authors have developed and proposed a new criterion of the crushing process efficiency, i.e. the kinematic efficiency factor, which is proposed to be used in comparative efficiency analysis of all the existing and proposed designs of jaw crushers.
Keywords: rocks, jaw crusher, reduction ratio, particle-size distribution in crushing, energy of disintegration process, simple paths of the moving plate
