Abstract: Successful operation of companies in the fuel and energy sector in terms of achieving their goals and objectives of sustainable development as well as the current ESG agenda is directly dependent on the quality of the human capital assets, which means not only a set of acquired knowledge, including the environmental expertise, but also a carrier of a full-fledged component of the developed environmental mindset of the employees. The article presents detailed results of a survey conducted by the authors in the beginning of 2024 to determine the extent of the environmental mindset development of employees in a number of enterprises in the fuel and energy sector. The study was conducted using a computer-assisted interviewing system (CAIS) using the Google Forms platform as the technological tool. The survey involved 415 employees of the oil and gas industry. The questionnaire developed by the authors includes 63 questions, structured into four blocks, according to the general concept of sustainable development, circular economy and ESG agenda. The conducted qualitative analysis of the environmental mindset development of employees as a carrier of environmental knowledge made it possible to identify a number of industry-specific features and form a generalized environmental and social portrait of a modern employee of enterprises in the fuel and energy sector. The obtained results are the basis for the development of promising paths for strategic programs to enhance the corporate environmental mindset, high-quality education of personnel in the field of ESG and the development of a circular economy in the oil and gas industry and, in general, in the fuel and energy sectors.
