Marketing aspects of technological development of mining enterprises

Abstract: Marketing aspects of mining enterprises' activities are becoming crucial in the context of technological transformation of the industry. The issues of managing market research organization in the technological sphere and determination of technological development trends of mining companies remain unresolved. The purpose of the research is to develop theoretical and methodological provisions and tools for marketing research into the technological development of mining enterprises. The subject of the research is organizational and economic relations arising in the process of technological development of mining companies. The object of the research is the world's largest mining companies. The activities of Rio Tinto, BHP Group, Vale S.A., Anglo American and Norilsk Nickel PJSC were analyzed. The share of the R&D costs in 2020-2023 was 0.3-0.5% of the revenue, which is 2.5 times lower than the average level for high-tech industries. BHP Group demonstrates the highest sales profitability of 42.3%, with the revenue growth rates reaching 18.7% annually. Digitalization of mining operations increases labor productivity by 15-23%, while introduction of autonomous equipment reduces operating costs by 12-17%. It has been established that companies investing more than 0.4% of their revenue in R&D show 27.8% higher capitalization growth. The concept of sustainable technological marketing in the mining industry is proposed, which integrates economic efficiency with environmental responsibility and social acceptability.
