Development of technology for obtaining final products from raw materials of man-made hydraulically-filled rock mass

Abstract: The article discusses modern approaches to obtaining products from materials of man-made hydraulically-filled rock masses formed as a result of mining operations. An autoclave cake dump, i.e. a man-made hydraulically-filled rock mass consisting of three sections and located near a zinc plant in the central part of Kazakhstan was chosen as the research object. The purpose of the study was to develop a technology to use the autoclave cake dump materials to produce pellets that would be suitable for further processing in the Vanukov furnace. The research resulted in: 1) proposing a technology to optimize management of the operations at the man-made deposit and production of the end product, i.e. pellets of a given size class (with the yield not less than 30% and the pellet sizes ranging from 5 to 30 mm), with constant humidity (12%), suitable for subsequent smelting; 2) offering recommendations on the selection of elements of the hardware part of the granulation process; 3) formulating proposals for defining the fleet of equipment and the system of complex mechanization. This technology can be applied to similar materials, e.g. fine-grained and soft, characterized by commercially-significant contents of useful components for processing. The research results will be useful for specialists in environmental science, mining and natural resources management.
