Abstract: The article analyzes activities of mining companies in the Tyva Republic as related to achieving the sustainable development goals declared by the United Nations Organization in 2015. Sustainable development of mining companies is a factor in the sustainable development of the areas of their operation. The research object is the mining companies in the mining areas in the Republic of Tyva. The research subject is activities of the mining companies to achieve the sustainable development goals. The aim of the study is to analyze the activities of the mining companies in the Tyva Republic in achieving the sustainable development goals and to determine how the population assesses the impact of the mining companies on the quality of life in the mining areas. The methods applied included the comparative analysis of the mining companies’ activities and the results of a sociological survey of the population in the development areas. We obtained the population’s assessments of the mining companies’ activities and their impact on the social, economic and environmental conditions in the areas of their presence while analyzing the results of the sociological survey of the residents in the development areas. The conclusions were made that the mining companies' activities aimed at achieving the sustainable development goals are systematic, affecting all the range of their activities, i.e. the social, economic and environmental aspects. The majority of the residents in the mining areas positively assess the activities of the mining companies, but stress the issues of deteriorating environmental situation in the development areas, which are associated with the start of mining. Currently, it is impossible to say that the sustainable development goals have been fully achieved because there still exist problems that require attention.
